Our Regional tournament will operate in a 2-2 fashion, with two trials on Saturday, Feb. 18th, and two trials on Sunday, Feb. 19th.
Most of our rounds will be held in Kerwin Hall, our political science building. Our campus is fairly small, and there are multiple ways to access this building. When the tournament gets closer, we will reach out with more specific parking information. Luckily, parking is free on weekends, so no need to factor parking costs into your budgets!
If you would like to access the campus by train, the closest Amtrak stop is Union Station. Once you are in DC, you can take the red line metro to the AU/Tenleytown stop, where you will then have to wait for an AU bus to take you to campus. While taking the train is possible, I would recommend driving to eliminate your dependence on multiple modes of public transportation.
Here is the tentative schedule for the weekend, though an updated one will be sent closer to the date.

Travel and Hotel Accommodations
We are in the process of working with a local hotel, The Courtyard Marriott Bethesda/Chevy Chase, to arrange a group rate. We will be in contact with more information once we finalize the arrangements. The hotel is along the red line metro, if you do end up opting for public transport rather than driving (though again, I would not recommend it).
During the tournament, dining options will be fairly limited. While AU does have some dining options on campus in the Mary Graydon Center, the lines get pretty long around lunchtime. For that reason, I would not recommend relying on those options for lunch. To ensure that everyone has access to food, we will be catering lunch from Potbelly. The lunch option will cost between $10-15 per person. The default lunch will be a sandwich, so please let us know if your competitors are gluten-free so that we can get them an alternative option. We will send out a google form closer to the date of the tournament if you are interested in our catering option. Please note that if you pursue this option, you will need to provide a payment in advance of the tournament.
Once we get closer to the tournament, we will send out a list of on campus lunch options (though again, I would not recommend relying on independent options).
Current Competitor Registration
As required by AMTA, all students who compete in AMTA-sanctioned tournaments must complete a series of forms to register both competitors and teams. For all forms and registration information please go to the following link: http://www.collegemocktrial.org/tournaments-/regional/assigned-team-information/
All withdrawals should be immediately communicated to AMTA.Tournaments@collegemocktrial.org AND AMTA@collegemocktrial.org. A withdrawal is not considered “official” until it is communicated by the school to the above-mentioned individuals.
Withdrawal Penalty Structure
The following penalties shall be assessed to each school that either withdraws and/or fails to appear at a regional tournament:
- $75 for teams that drop within 28 days of the start of the tournament, but more than 14 days before the start of the tournament;
- $125 for teams that drop within 14 days of the start of the tournament but more than 7 days before the start of the tournament;
- $175 for teams that drop within 7 days of the start of the tournament but more than 48 hours before the start of the tournament;

- $500 for teams that drop after the start of the tournament, that fails to show up for the tournament, or that leave the tournament early without permission of the AMTA Representative(s)
We’ll send out a full tournament packet at least two weeks before the tournament. Although we don’t expect many changes, we’ll be sure to notify you of any promptly. Along with this tournament packet, we will include a catering form for lunches.
